YOU CAN BE FINED JUST FOR WALKING INTO THE SCREENING AREA
It is now a crime to show up the airport and try to fly someone. The laws, as passed during the Bush administration, permit civil penalties if you go to the airport, refuse to be x-rayed and therefore decide you want to leave the airport. Here is what CCN.com posted on their website today, which reflects statements earlier this week by Janet Napolitano and others:
Passengers who refuse complete screening won't be allowed past security and could face civil penalties, according to a TSA statement.
What this amounts to, in practical terms, is that anything the TSA decides to do with you, once you enter the screening area, is okay. You cannot protest, you can not decline and leave the airport. In fact, the California man who recorded his conversation with the TSA was threatened with a fine after he had been escorted out of the screening area and given a refund by the airline. He was told not to leave the airport (he did anyway) and told he could be fined for refusing a patdown.
What a deal. The X-Ray machine is optional, but the patdown, once you are in the screening area, cannot be refused. This is the sort of “negative option” that business and government want to catch you in. You are a free, honored American citizen, until we get our hands on you. While we have those hands on you, you are as good as a terrorist until we say you may go.

The TSA has posted this statement on its “blog”
"It's important to remember that TSA screens nearly 2 million passengers daily and that very few passengers are required to receive a pat-down.”
So, relax you uppity Americans, the injustice and mistreatment will only be on a few. You might even get through without being rubbed between the legs.

One of the best, most lucid and well written American history books I have ever read. This is not merely history, it is the story of much of the creation of the American nation as it entered into a long, horrid conflict with the native peoples. Reading this, you will come to understand the battles between Indians and whites with more clarity than ever before. Personalities come alive and vivid writing carries you through. Out in quality paperback now.
