These are the car pages of The TerryReport. There is no major focus to these pages. Whatever strikes us as interesting, different, debatable, unusual or outstanding makes it to these pages.
The TerryReport is quite impressed with the way America car companies are roaring back from adversity and the time when their vehicles were so junky that it was hard to get one off of the new car lot without something breaking or falling off. As one car write wrote, some of the earlier cars seemed more likely to have been extruded than manufactured. Here’s hoping those days are fading fast in the rearview as we head down the road, full speed.

This cute as a button Fiat 500 has been on sale in Europe for several years. It mimics the classic look of the post WW II Fiats, cars that were long on personality and short on just about everything, including turning over and starting when you wanted them to. Fiat now owns the bones of Chysler and says the new 500 will be coming to the states with a starting price of $15,500. On American highways, such cars are certainly a risk to the drivers and passengers. In the city, they are more of a novelty car, something for someone who wants a different kind of car from what everyone else has regardless of practicality. This is the original Fiat 500. Fiat cars, beloved by many in Italy (where they are made) and around Europe had a reputation of never lasting a mile beyond 50,000 without a major breakdown. They were sold in the States jointly with Lancia until both withdrew from the American market in the late 1970s, their reputation in tatters. (The Lancia was actually a pretty cool, front wheel drive sport coupe, with a four cylinder engine and lots of go.) Now, Fiat is ready, carefully, to try again.

One of the best, most lucid and well written American history books I have ever read. This is not merely history, it is the story of much of the creation of the American nation as it entered into a long, horrid conflict with the native peoples. Reading this, you will come to understand the battles between Indians and whites with more clarity than ever before. Personalities come alive and vivid writing carries you through. Out in quality paperback now.
