U.S. military planes stopped flying critically injured Haitians to Florida on Wednesday, prompting the chairman of neurological surgery at the University of Miami to declare that patients will die because of lack of access to treatment. A doctor said 100 of his patients "will die in a day or two" if U.S. airlifts don't resume, the Associated Press is reporting. Hospitals in Florida claim financial burden is no obstacle for accepting patients, as Gov. Charlie Crist asks the federal government for millions of dollars to cover the cost.
