The Eastern Market is a Capitol Hill institution where individual merchants sell fresh vegetables, meats, cakes and cookies and a variety of other foods and novelty items. The Market was severely damaged by a fire in 2007 that occurred the same day when the public library in Georgetown, DC, was also destroyed by fire. Both are back now, better than ever. Here are some photos of the Eastern Market taken in the winter, 2010. Spring, fall and summer time, of course, are the seasons when the Market really shines, when merchants move outdoors, and new ones arrive, to sell their goods to the public.
