Hey, are you thoroughly fed up hearing about health care in America? Have you given up on Congress and figured that whatever they were trying to do, they will never get it done? Don’t lose all hope. We’ve got a new plan!
Well, at least Obama does. No public option. More specific savings. Lots of other stuff. Check it out here:

The whole thing is so long and complicated that even the White House website posted only highlights, inviting visitors to click and download details. Do we want details? I don’t know. Maybe.
The big problem in America is the economy and unemployment, to name but one huge area. People who can’t pay their electric bill or car payment are not worrying about what they will do for health care in fifteen years. Obama wants us to be responsible and plan ahead. Yeah? You want the Republicans to give you anything that would count toward your credit with the American public and allow, perhaps, the Dems to keep control of Congress? Not likely. Their game is to appear willing and close out with nothing.
The new mantra in American politics is this: nobody wins. That way, the Republicans have a chance to claw their way back to power. By directly engaging the minority side of Congress, Obama is trying to give them a challenge to do something in the name of progress. They seem to like the challenge, as long as they can try to turn it around and blame Obama and the Dems.

One of the best, most lucid and well written American history books I have ever read. This is not merely history, it is the story of much of the creation of the American nation as it entered into a long, horrid conflict with the native peoples. Reading this, you will come to understand the battles between Indians and whites with more clarity than ever before. Personalities come alive and vivid writing carries you through. Out in quality paperback now.
