The White House has stepped in to make certain that insurance companies comply with the new law and provide coverage to children with “pre-existing conditdions”. Is this one the many bad, bad things that has people upset about health care change? Chances are, most people don’t even know what was in the final bill (it is over 2,600 pages, for one thing), but they do know something in there that upsets them, because there have been massive efforts to put out that information. Well, maybe it is time to settle down and give some careful consideration to the whole thing, not just small parts of it? Nah, who would want to do that?
Please note the TerryReport’s posting of Doug Terry’s personal story of how lack of health insurance as a child split up his family and caused great hardship.
Here is a clip from the story in the NY Times with the link:

Insurers to Comply With New Rules for Children
Published: March 30, 2010
WASHINGTON Under pressure from the White House, health insurance companies said Tuesday that they would comply with rules to be issued soon by the Obama administration requiring them to cover children with pre-existing medical problem.
“Health plans recognize the significant hardship that a family faces when they are unable to obtain coverage for a child with a pre-existing condition,” said Karen M. Ignagni, president of America’s Health Insurance Plans, a trade group. Accordingly, she said, “we await and will fully comply with”the rules. |
