WANT TO DO SOME SATURDAY BIKE RIDING?
How about the Rock and Road ride from Georgetown? Starts on the C&O Canal, goes along the Canal for about three miles, then goes over to MacArthur Blvd., out passed the Naval Research Center and back to Cabin John Park for lunch (if you’ve paid in advance) and then back to Georgetown. It is a comfortable 20 miles (+/-) with friends and bikes.
This ride is intended as a recreational ride with a modest pace. Along the Canal, it is mostly single file, so riders can be expected to spread out a bit. We will wait for all riders to catch up after crossing the twisting turns of the pedestrian bridge at Lock Five of the Canal and again before turning onto MacArthur Blvd. The ride back is in groups or own your own (cue sheets available). Anyone who wants to “hammer” going out or coming back is welcomed to do so, but the intention of the ride is mainly recreational.
This ride will go every first and third Saturday of every month from now through October. If there is no ride leader, and thus no lunch available. you will be notified ahead of time if you have sent your email to terryreport.com. (There are a couple of stores and restaurants on MacArthur where lunch could be purchased.)
Lunch will include a sandwich, water, an apple or banana. The cost for lunch is 7 dollars per person. . A few snacks will likely be available for those who choose not to purchase lunch. You may pay at the start of the ride, but please notify by Friday ahead of time if you want lunch. (Please don’t order lunch and then not show up for the ride.)
There is no registration fee for this ride. You will take personal charge of your safety throughout the ride and, yeah, there will be a sheet to sign releasing from liability.
